Friendship Cycle Team from Mumbai will tour Sri Lanka

(01.03.2011) Sri Lanka Consulate General in Mumbai in association with Jet Air Ways India organized an eight member cycling team from Mumbai to visit Sri Lanka for three weeks cycling tour programme from 27th February to 19th March 2011 to explore Sri Lanka. The cycling route covered Colombo, Galle, Matara, Kandy, Trincomalee and Anuradhapura. As of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, this is the first tour programme undertaken by a group of cyclist from abroad and this would encourage organizing similar tours from India in future. All the arrangements in Sri Lanka for the cycling group were made by the Sri Lanka Mission in Mumbai.

Photographic Exhibition in India to project Sri Lanka as an emerging MICE Destination

27.07.2011 Sri Lanka Consulate General in Mumbai in association with Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and L.B. Associates, New Delhi have launched an image building project in India to brand Sri Lanka as an emerging MICE destination in the South Asian Region.

The project includes publishing of an exclusive Coffee Table Book illustrating the scenic beauty of the island, while reflecting current socio-economic development with broader views of the key players in the public and private sector, highlighting opportunities available for development in the island to upgrade as a MICE destination.  The publication will be a vital source of information covering array of sectors including tourism, goods and services industry, financial and investment, for the potential entrepreneurs around the world, who are fervent to know the country’s future policy directions, business opportunities as well as tourists who wish to explore the miracles of the island.

Sri Lanka Food Festival in Mumbai

(26.09.2010) The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai in association with hotel Cinnamon Lake and Sri Lankan Airlines jointly organized a Sri Lanka Food festival at hotel Leela Kempinski in Mumbai from 18th to 25th September, as part of the Mission’s annual tourism promotion activities.

During the Food Festival, the Sri Lankan Chefs of hotel Cinnamon Lake offered authentic Sri Lankan culinary featuring the choicest of delicacies from Sri Lanka. They included tuck in Deviled prawn--a classic Sri Lankan stir fry dish or chicken baduma-fried chicken with chili garlic sauce, Fish Ambulthiyal, Devilled Potato, Seeni Sambol and many more.

The event also captured the action where the Chefs dished out delicately wrapped- Chicken/ Vegetable Kottushredded Godamba Roti mixed which barbecued veggies, meat curry and eggs, popular take away dishes in Sri Lanka. At the Food Festival, the Sri Lankan food menu at hotel Leela Kempinski added sweet note with Dodol, Coconut toffees, Watalappan, Kawun - a traditional oil cake and other Sri Lankan deserts to the Indian taste.
